My thoughts: I really loved the first book in this series and I plan to read the second one before this book comes out. Besides that I absolutely love the title of this book. It is creepy which is why I am so happy it is coming out this fall and Halloween time! Looks like a perfect read for that time of year!

My Top 10 Summer Reads

Today I thought I would share my ultimate top ten summer reads! These are the perfect books for the summer! I know that summer is about over but that doesn't mean that these books shouldn't be read any time of year or maybe even next year! I love all of these! Enjoy these picks and what's left of summer!

1. Of Poseidon Trilogy - Anna Banks

 

A perfect beach read! Books about mermaids that take place during the summer! I haven't read too many mermaids books but I love this trilogy! It is a small book so perfect to take the beach or by the pool. The characters are great and a quick moving plot!  

 

2. Along for the Ride - Sarah Dessen

 

My favorite Sarah Dessen book besides This Lullaby, but I thought this was better suited for summer. It has been awhile since I have read this but I remember relating to the main character so much because she has insomnia like me. Like all Sarah Dessen books, they take place in a small North Carolina town during the summer and self-discovery and cute romances ensue!

 

3. What I Thought Was True - Huntley Fitzpatrick

 

A book I read myself this summer! Such a cute contemporary about a girl who lives on an island that works for her father and the "rich island people". Also a little fling between her and one of the rich island people happen that is such a mystery to discover! I enjoy Huntley Fitzpatrick for a nice summer read!

 

4. The Summer I Turned Pretty Trilogy - Jenny Han

 

While I have only read the first book in this series, I thought that I would include it on the list! I have heard so many good things about this trilogy and I know that it only gets better as you go along! The first book was touching and good. I can't wait to read more!

 

5. Breathing - Cheryl Renee Herbsman

 

Such a cute book! I read this book when I first started reading YA and it always stuck with me because it was so cute! It's about a girl who meets this boy in her town who takes her breath away, and while she suffers from extreme asthma, Jackson help her learn how to "breathe".

 

6. Catching Jordan - Miranda Kenneally

 

I absolutely love the Hundred Oaks series. Each book just gets better as the go along and I always read each book during the summer. It takes no time at all to read, I literally read one of the books in one day. Fun stories about a set characters in the same town who weave into each others lives. Please check this series, it deserves so much more hype!

 

7. I've Got Your Number - Sophie Kinsella

 

Sophie Kinsella is the queen of chick-lit! This is my favorite Sophie Kinsella book! I literally cry, I laughed so hard. Never compares to this book in the genre of chick-lit.  Everyone needs a good chick-lit for the summer. This is about a girl, Poppy, who looses her engagement and cell phone all in the same day and must steal someone's cell phone so her fiancé doesn't find out. However, an interesting relationship develops between the original owner of the cell phone and her.

 

8. We Were Liars - E. Lockhart

 

Such a great book for the summer! I read this book this year cause of all the surrounding hype and it was so good! It's about a group of cousins that live on an island for the summer and all the drama that happens and a girl who struggles to place the pieces together of a summer she can't remember. It has so much mystery and you can't remember what happens! Please read!

 

9. Second Chance Summer - Morgan Matson

 

I just read this book and I liked it so much! How could I not include this book, it has the word summer in the title. It is so touching ad heartbreaking, but yet so wonderful and cute at the same time. While the main character is hard to understand at times, you can accept her flaws and love her anyways. While Amy & Roger's Epic Detour is my favorite by Morgan Matson, I thought this is a more of a summer read!

 

10. Twenty Boy Summer - Sarah Ockler

 

Another books that has summer in the title. I love Sarah Ockler's book so much and this was my first love. Absolutely breathtaking and amazing. One of my all-time favorite contemporaries. This is about two best friends, however, one best friends is in love with her best friend's brother. Another one that doesn't have the hype it deserves. More people need to read this and Sarah Ockler's fantastic writing!

My thoughts: I really enjoy this series. The first book was good and thought that the second book was okay. I am really excited to see how the ending will conclude and how it will end. I also adore the covers in this series. I am glad they decided to keep all the covers the same instead of changing the last cover like they do in some trilogies. Bout of Books 9.0 Read-a-thon Day 2

It's the second day of the Bout of Books Read-a-thon. I didn't get as much read today as I would of liked too. But I wasn't feeling well and kind of just slept around and watched TV. I was suppose to go back to school today but since the artic blast has come, I won't be going until Thursday. I have been reading books by Abbi Glines for quite awhile now. The first series that I read by her was the Too Far/Rosemary Beach series. I instantly fell in love with new adult and Abbi Gline's writing/characters and couldn't wait to read more by her. The Sea Breeze series is one of my guilty pleasures. The books are like my own sort of drug. Once I start reading them, I can't seem to stop or put them down. There is always something about each individual story that I tend to enjoy and Just for Now was no different. In fact, this might just be my favorite out of the series so far.

The fourth book in the Sea Breeze story is about Preston Drake (the official bad-boy of the Alabama town) and Amanda Hardy (the younger sister of Marcus and the typical good girl). There was just something about this match that I enjoyed more than the other three in the series. Don't get me wrong, I really loved Cage and Eva but Preston and Amanda was something different. Amanda was relatable and I totally could understand why she kept coming back to him. When you love someone, you want to be with them, no matter how much hurt you have to deal with. I know that from firsthand experience.
While this book is frustrating, mostly from Preston pushing Amanda away, I still learned to enjoy the characters. I was also glad we got to see Jason Stone (the younger brother of Jax). I am really excited to read his story later on. I can't wait to read later books, just so I can see short scenes of Preston and Amanda be all cute and being a couple. I recommend this book if you have read any books by Abbi Glines or are interested in new adult, but please be 17+ before reading this. There is some sexual scenes along with language and don't think it is for young readers.

My thoughts: I still have yet to read Impossible, even though it has been on my TBR list forever. I have heard nothing but good things about that book and also Nancy Werlin so I am excited to start on this series, besides, isn't tha cover just gorgeous?! Love it! I decided to go with books that I thought I like less than I did!

 

1. Starcrossed - Josephine Angelini

I enjoyed this book way more than I thought I would! I don't really like all that Greek mythology, but I do know a lot of people who love it, so I decided to give another try at it in this book. I heard good reviews and it seemed like a book that I would enjoy so I picked it up anyways. I honestly couldn't stop reading it. I remember being up till 3 in the morning reading about Helen. Josephine Angelini has this unique way of writing that is very captivating. Such a great book and the sequel is great also but not as good as Starcrossed was!

 

2. Anna Dressed in Blood - Kendare Blake

Another books I liked way more than I expected too. For some reason, I just didn't pick this book or have any desire to read it. I don't know why, but one day I decided to read it anyways cause I found it on sale at a bookstore. I was so surprised by how much I enjoyed it! I tried reading it once before and couldn't get into it, but when I started it again for the second time I couldn't put it down. I must have been in some weird book funk the first time! Loved it!

 

3. If I Stay - Gayle Forman

This book just seemed so depressing and I didn't really want to read something like that cause at the time I read my share of Sarah Dessen books at that moment, but my friend wouldn't stop pestering me about so I picked it up. It was literally wonderful. Made me cry so much and I loved it. Also the sequel Where She Went is even better if you can believe it! I totally recommend them!

 

4. The Iron King - Julie Kagawa

When I first saw this on goodreads I avoided it. I read that it was about faeries and I wasn't interested. At that time, I had only read one other book about faeries and I didn't enjoy it so I had some weird prejudice thing against faerie books after that. Funny, right? :) Well anyways, I was bored one day and I found the first chapter available so I went ahead and read it. I loved it! So I picked up the book and devoured in one setting almost. I'm so glad I got my prejudice! :)

 

5. Lola and the Boy Next Door - Stephanie Perkins

After reading Anna and the French Kiss and being slightly disappointed cause my expectations where so high, I thought I wouldn't like this one much either. WRONG. I couldn't have been more wrong. This book was brilliant! SO GOOD. I loved it so much. I think it helped with having no expectations going into this. It was great. Yeah, I can't think of any words to describe how much I loved it.

 

6. Incarnate - Jodi Meadows

I knew that I probably would like this book, but I didn't think I would like it as much as I did. I never read a book quite like this one before. It has such an interesting concept and the main character is very wonderful to read from. I also just love Sam so much! I can't believe I haven't read the next book yet. I need to get on that.

 

7. Audrey, Wait! - Robin Benway

I was honestly surprised by how much I liked this. I heard really good reviews over it and thought that I would probably enjoy it, but I loved it! It was so funny and it one of my favorite contemporaries for sure. If you haven't read this yet, I highly recommend it. Audrey was so fun to read from and the story is just hilarious. If you are fans of Meg Cabot, then I recommend this for you!

 

8. Sweet Evil - Wendy Higgins

Oh my gosh, this book! One of those fangirling moments here! Sweet Peril is so close to coming out! I can't wait to read it! Anyways, Sweet Evil was just amazing. I liked it way more than I thought I would. I remember reading the first couple of chapters and thinking, "Wow. This is really good." I also stayed up all night reading. Let's not forget about Kaidan either ;)

 

9. I Know It's Over - C.K. Kelly Martin

I can understand if someone didn't like this novel, since it does have a touchy subject matter but I didn't think to like it as much as I did. The writing was done so well and the main character, Nick, was refreshing to read from. I like to read from a guys pov now and again and he was great to read from. C.K. Kelly Martin has a very interesting way of writing, it all flowly and smooth. I need to read another book by her.

 

10. Dairy Queen - Catherine Gilbert Murdock

This was such a fun read! I thought that I would probably just like, but I loved it! The writing was so real with the family dynamics and the relationship that D.J. had with Brian. This was also one of the very first contemporaries that I read and I'm so glad that it was this one. I need to read the rest of this series!

I will admit, I am a huge Sara Shepard fan. I honestly will read anything she will publish. She's probably going to make, I don't know, six more Lying Game books and you will see me there reading them all. I was so excited to read this! I read that it was suppose to be about Sutton and Thayer, who I love so much. This short novella takes place before Emma ever entered the picture, so I was excited to see how things will be.

There wasn't anything revealed in this book, but I did really like it. It was nice to see Sutton's point of view for a change and see how she thinks. I really love Sutton and Thayer's relationship. I am so sad that they won't be together in the end. Sutton truly did love Thayer. She wasn't playing him at all. This novella just makes me more anxious and eager to find out what really did happen to Sutton in the actual Lying Game books.

I can't wait to read more Lying Game books by Sara Shepard. I love them, incase you haven't noticed yet! They have become my favorite over Pretty Little Liars anymore. There seems to more mystery and I like the characters better in this world!
