Q: If you could hang out with any author (living) who would it be and what would you want to do?

 

This was hard to pick but of course so I decided just to go by what my favorite book series is and pick that author. My favorite book series is the Mortal Instruments and the Infernal Devices, so Cassandra Clare is the author that I would want to hang out with! I would probably want to meet her over in London somewhere and we could go somewhere to eat and visit all the landmarks that are in the Infernal Devices. I would ask her probably a million questions about the characters, like how she even came up with this amazing world and just let her know how I am such a big fan. We could also share some redhead jokes! So yeah, this was cheesy but true :) Thanks for visiting!

Q: When you step out of your USUAL genre what do you like to read? Best books in that genre?

 

My usual genre is anything YA related, but when I don't read YA I will usually read Jodi Picoult. I will pretty much read anything under the women's fiction genre or Chick Lit adult. Some of my favorite Jodi Picoult novels are The Tenth Circle, Harvesting the Heart, and Plain Truth. I totally recommend her books. I love them so much!

Q: Best cover? What is the best cover of a book that you've read and loved?

 

I picked two books for this because I couldn't choose between them. I picked The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater and The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa. The reason why I picked the Scorpio Races is because the cover just fits the book so well. I don't think they could have picked a better cover for this book. I am a huge horse lover and this book was just like my dream come true, especially since it was written by Maggie Stiefvater. I can just picture that being Puck and her horse. Puck has to be one of my all time favorite female characters ever. The reason I picked The Immortal Rules is just that stunning cover with fantastic story. I should expect no less from Julie Kagawa since I also love her Iron Fey series. I love how it shows Allison has a vampire and the blood dripping down her face!

Q: What would you do over if you were to start your blog again from scratch?

First off, I do not want to start my blog over! I have spent so many hours and days into this! If it would just disappear I would be crushed. But, if I did have to start over from scratch I would like to do something different about the layout. I know nothing about doing different web designs or stuff like that. So that is probably what I would do differently.

Q: Do your reading habits change based on your mood? Do you read a certain genre if you are feeling depressed or happy?

Whenever I am unhappy or sad I try to read something that I know will make me feel better. I usually love dystopian or fantasy so I will pick something from that bunch.  But I never really change my reading habits because of mood, usually because books affect my mood. Like when I really an awesome book that I just can't stop thinking about (hunger games, divergent, matched, etc) I just get so giddy and happy. When I read a real sad book (speak, cracked up to be, looking for alaska, etc) I get really sad and nothing can make me feel better. So yeah, that's some of my reading habits :)

Q: Summer Reading. What was your favorite book that you were REQUIRED to read when you were in school?

I picked two books for this! The required book I had to read in 9th grade was To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. I just loved this book so much. It was one of the books that made me want to start reading more. The required book I read in 11th grade was The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien. This book took a little while to get into but it was just amazing. I didn't think I would like it because its about these soldiers during Vietnam, but it was so good. The writing was so beautiful. I loved it.

Q: What drove you to start book blogging in the first place?

I started book blogging once I discovered bloggers like Chapter Chicks, The Story Siren, Chick-Lit Teens on Goodreads. I thought that it looked fun and I wanted to join in on it too. I use to have a really old blog called Olivia's Bookshelf years ago, but never kept it up so I deleted it. I started this as a fresh start and I have been enjoying it a lot more. I started this blog last November after I read Matched by Ally Condie and just had all these book feelings! The book feels usually happen after you read a book that just makes you feel every emotion under the sun. So I thought to myself that I would make a blog and talk about it. So here I am! I hope to be around for a long time! This is a big hobby of mine and I love it!

Q: Jumping Genres: Ever pick up a book from a genre you usually don't like and LOVE it? Tell us about it and why you picked it up in the first place.

Genre: I am not the biggest fan of contemporary. Of course I like Sarah Dessen and a few others but I never had one that I just absolutely loved and stood out from the others.

The book that changed that:

Lola and The Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins.

I could just go on and on and on about why I love this book, but I'm sure that most of you have already read this & Anna and the French Kiss (oh la la!). I picked this up because I was tired of feeling out of the loop with all the five-star reviews on goodreads. This book makes me want to read other contemporary novels, since my usual pick is dystopian or paranormal.

Q: Happy Father's Day! Who is your favorite dad character in a book and why?

This is a difficult question. I went onto goodreads and looked at the books that I have read and picked between two choices!

From YA Books: Luke from the Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare.

I know that Luke isn't her actual dad but I he is a good father to her. He took care of her and loved her as if she was his own. I know that he wasn't in City of Lost Souls that much but I loved what he said to Clary's mom Jocelyn, she said that she wished she would have married Luke instead of Valentine to begin with and Luke replied, "But then we wouldn't have Clary."

From A Classic: Atticus Finch from To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.

He is such a good role model and he taught his children very well and I loved everything that he stood for. He gave wonderful advice to Scout and Jem. If you haven't read this book, what are you waiting for? It is so beautiful.

Q: You are a matchmaker -- your goal, hook up two characters from two of your favorite books. Who would it be? How do you think it would go?

 

I thought about this question for a bit and came up with a quite hilarious but awesome couple. I would pick Isabelle Lightwood from the Mortal Instrument series and Adrian Ivashkov from the Vampire Academy/Bloodlines series. I think that they would compliment each other fairly well. What do you think of these guys?

 

SPOILER: (FYI I am a strong Isabelle/Simon shipper and Adrian/Sydney shipper. I would never actually want them together, but if they could have babies they would be pretty =D).

Q: Summer Break is upon us! What would be the perfect vacation spot for you to catch up on your reading & relax?

Since I am taking college classes this summer, I will unfortunately not have a summer break this year. But if I could choose to go on the perfect vacation to catch up on my reading it would have to be the beach! I have only ever been to Myrtle and Virginia Beach and they were a lot of fun trips. I do believe that my parents and I are going to New York this summer for about five days, so maybe I could catch up on my reading then? :)
