Shatter Me - Tahereh Mafi

Title: Shatter Me
Author: Tahereh Mafi
Release Date: November 5th, 2011, hardcover

Publisher: Harper Collins
Group: Young Adult Literature
Rating:

Juliette hasn't touched anyone in exactly 264 days.

The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette's touch is fatal. As long as she doesn't hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don't fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.

The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war-- and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she's exactly what they need right now.
If you were to say that I simply just liked this book, I would laugh in your face. That would be an understatement. I loved this book. There was just something about this story that is insanely awesome. I read it in two days. I just couldn't put it down. I had to find out more about Juliette and this dystopian world she was living in.
*************************************************************

I have noticed this trend that there are a lot of dystopian books coming out in the YA world. At first, I wasn’t too sure how I felt about it. I have always been such a paranormal reader, but after reading books like The Hunger Games, Divergent, and now Shatter Me. I am turned over to becoming a huge dystopian fan. I can't seem to get enough of them.

Juliette has been locked up in a cell and hasn't touched anyone in 264 days. The last time she touched somebody an accident happened that changed her life forever. She has been labeled a murderer and monster because her touch is fatal. In the very first chapter, Juliette gets a cellmate named Adam and that is when the action starts.

This book had so many twists and turns, that there wasn't a dull moment at all. I didn't see anything coming. Tahereh Mafi is such a talented writer. The writing style is very unique in this book. I haven't read anything quite like it before. I am so happy that I liked this book. I can't wait to see what will happen to the characters in the next book. There are some crazy people in this story, for example Warner. I am kind of confused about his character.
Overall, I cannot say enough good things about this book. I recommend everybody go out and read it! You will not be disappointed with this action dystopian novel that has supernatural twists thrown in. I can’t wait to see what adventures there will be for Juliette and Adam next!

Something Like Normal
-Trish Doller
Release Date: June 19th, 2012

A powerful debut novel about a young Marine's return home from Afghanistan and the new life and love he finds while fending off the ghosts of war.

When Travis Stephenson returns home from Afghanistan, his parents are on the brink of divorce, his brother has stolen his girlfriend and his car, and nightmares of his best friend getting killed keep him completely spooked. But when he runs into Harper Gray, a girl who despises him for trashing her reputation with a middle school lie, life actually starts looking up. As Travis and Harper see more of each other, he starts falling for her and a way through the family meltdown, the post-traumatic stress, and the possibility of an interesting future begins to emerge.

His sense of humor, sense of his own strength, and incredible sense of honor make Travis an irresistible and eminently lovable hero in this fantastic and timely debut novel.

My thoughts: I AM SO EXCITED TO READ THIS!!! Do I really need to say anything else? (:
