Lola and the Boy Next Door - Stephanie Perkins

Title: Lola and the Boy Next Door
Author: Stephanie Perkins
Release Date: September 29th, 2011, hardcover
Publisher: Dutton Books
Group: Young Adult Literature

Budding designer Lola Nolan doesn’t believe in fashion... she believes in costume. The more expressive the outfit -- more sparkly, more fun, more wild -- the better. But even though Lola’s style is outrageous, she’s a devoted daughter and friend with some big plans for the future. And everything is pretty perfect (right down to her hot rocker boyfriend) until the dreaded Bell twins, Calliope and Cricket, return to the neighborhood.

When Cricket -- a gifted inventor -- steps out from his twin sister’s shadow and back into Lola’s life, she must finally reconcile a lifetime of feelings for the boy next door.
This book had everything I wanted. After reading Anna and the French Kiss and being kind of disappointed cause my expectations were sky high, I went into read this one with none. That was probably made this book wonderful for me. I realized that Stephanie Perkins is a talented writer and she is able to capture these characters in a way I don't think anyone else would be able too.

This story was just fantastic! Lola and Cricket were awesome. We also get to see Anna and St. Clair, awesomesauce. Her friend Lindsey was great! I usually hate the main characters best friend, but she was sweet. Love it when writers make the best friend likable. There were moments were I actually started laughing out loud cause how funny Lola was. This was definitely a feel good book. I just couldn't put it down or stop thinking about it. I had to literally force the book down so I could start on my homework. You know that you have read a good book when it is all that you can think of. I just start smiling like a nerd when I think about this book.

Cricket is like the ultimate sweetest perfect guy. I don't really know what else to say about him. He was just the perfect boy. I don't know how Stephanie Perkins was able to write this without it being cheesy, but she did it! I am not the biggest YA contemporary fan, being more of a dystopian/paranormal girl but I think I have officially converted due to this wacky, amazing, hilarious, perfect book.

So if you haven't realized it yet: I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED THIS BOOK.
