Follow Friday (8)

This is a weekly theme hosted by Parajunkee's View & Alison Can Read.

Q: Do your reading habits change based on your mood? Do you read a certain genre if you are feeling depressed or happy?

Whenever I am unhappy or sad I try to read something that I know will make me feel better. I usually love dystopian or fantasy so I will pick something from that bunch.  But I never really change my reading habits because of mood, usually because books affect my mood. Like when I really an awesome book that I just can't stop thinking about (hunger games, divergent, matched, etc) I just get so giddy and happy. When I read a real sad book (speak, cracked up to be, looking for alaska, etc) I get really sad and nothing can make me feel better. So yeah, that's some of my reading habits :)

  1. I know exactly what you mean about the books affecting your mood! When I read Delirium I walked about in a trance for a whole day trying to understand haha

  7. I'm the same about reading a happy book to cheer me up. Or sometimes when I'm tired/stressed I read something like Harry Potter or a comfort book. Great answer! :)

  8. Slightly fangirled at the Looking For Alaska mention, I love that book so much! Are you a John Green fan?

Awesome answer. Comfort reads are so good for when you don't want to be fully focused on something, or want a break.

  9. Yeah, books always affect my mood too! Know exactly what you mean! But even when a book is sad, I feel happier if it's a really good book. Weird, huh?

I read to distract myself regardless of what mood I'm in. But I might read more if I'm feeling sad or something.

And I'm the same way. If a book is really sad, nothing is going to get me out of a funk lol.
